Founded in 2006, Agora publishes Georgian authors but mainly focuses on translations of fiction:
novels, stories and poetry; philosophical, historic, sociological and anthropological essays;
and children’s literature.
Agora has published more than a hundred books to date, among them classic and modern works by
American, Belgian, Swiss, Italian, New Zealand, Canadian and Turkish authors. The majority of its
publications, however, belong to French authors. In 2014, Marina Balavadze was named a Chevalier
de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government for her special contribution to
publicizing French culture.
