Alexandre Voisard

Alexandre Voisard is a contemporary Swiss poet from the Jura region. After a turbulent childhood, he lived a bohemian youth, and the painful love for his native land led him to take up the pen. He passionately fought for the well-being and independence of Jura. During the demonstrations in 1978, when the Jura canton was finally established, young people were chanting the poem by Alexandre Voisard “Freedom at Dawn.” He has published over thirty poetry collections and other writings, and has received more than eleven literary awards.
