Rezo Gabriadze – a painter, theater and film director, writer, and sculptor – was born in 1936 in Kutaisi. He is the author of more than 35 films, including Mimino, Don’t Grieve, Kin-dza-dza, The Eccentrics, An Unusual Exhibition, The Wayfarers, and others. In 1981, Rezo Gabriadze founded the Puppet Theater in Tbilisi, which won audiences’ hearts from its very first performance and now tours all over the world. Rezo Gabriadze received numerous international awards, including the Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic, the USSR State Prize, and awards such as Nika, Triumph, Golden Mask, Golden Sofit, Tsarskoye Selo Prize, the Shota Rustaveli State Prize, and many others.
