Dimitri Gogolashvili is a multilingual translator. He graduated from the Faculty of German and English Languages (Translation Program) at Ilia Chavchavadze State University in Tbilisi, and from the Faculty of Finnish Languages at the University of Oulu (Finland), where he also studied French and Swedish languages and literature. He has completed an American English course at the American-Georgian University, an English course at the University of Cambridge, and a Swedish language course at Ilia Chavchavadze University. To improve his Swedish and study creative writing in that language, he spent two years studying at three specialized Swedish colleges. He has translated two contemporary Georgian novels (by Archil Kikodze and Mariam Bekauri) into Swedish and also writes prose in Swedish. He has taught Finnish and Swedish languages, literature, and culture at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Dimitri Gogolashvili translates from English, German, French, Finnish, Swedish, and Danish. To date, he has translated 25 books - mainly novels.
