Marina Balavadze

Marina Balavadze is a French language teacher and translator. She graduated from the Faculty of Western European Languages and Literatures at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. As a teacher, she has completed numerous professional development programs, including a three-year training course at the University Institute of the Loire region and has received a certificate in teaching French for specific purposes (IFOS). Right after graduating, she worked at the Scientific Information Center of the Georgian Academy of Sciences, and later at the Institute of Political Science, where she translated academic texts. She participated in the compilation of the French-Georgian dictionary. She has translated numerous works into Georgian, including Political Science by Jean-Marie Denquin, The Dictionary of Europe by Yves Tissier, Mythologies and A Lover’s Discourse: Fragments by Roland Barthes, The Myth of Sisyphus and The Rebel by Albert Camus, Napoleon and Fateful Moments in a Life by Jean Tulard, among others. Since 2006, she has directed Agora Publishing House. In 2013, she was awarded the title of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government.
