George Ekizashvili

George Ekizashvili is a translator and professor of French literature at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. He graduated from the university's Faculty of Western European Languages and Literature, French Department. Ekizashvili has translated works by Molière, Guy de Maupassant, Jean-Paul Sartre, Charles Baudelaire, Françoise Sagan, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Albert Camus, Maurice Maeterlinck, André Maurois, Hervé Bazin, Marc Cholodenko, Yves Martin, Arthur Rimbaud, Guillaume Apollinaire, Gilles Jouanard, Nathalie Sarraute, Michel Houellebecq, Daniel Pennac, Pierre Péju, and others. He has received numerous awards for his translations, including the State Prize, Geronti Kikodze Prize (twice), Saba Prize, Mikheil Tumanishvili Prize (twice), Ivane Machabeli Prize, Order of Honor, TSU Gold Medal, French Renaissance Gold Medal, and others. In 2015, the French government awarded him the rank of Commander of the Order of Academic Palms.
