A bilingual (French-Georgian) poetry collection. Translated from Georgian into French by Boris Bachana Chabradze. Published in 2019 in Georgia, the collection Airs lointains was immediately hailed as Georges Ekizachvili's masterpiece, crowning his long career as a man of letters, translator, and poet. This incisive collection attempts to blend two irreconcilables: the poetic aspiration toward the absolute, and the lamentation of a triviality that slowly corrodes all the beauty in the world. The author delivers here a precise observation of the wear and tear that time inflicts on things and feelings, with the vivacity of a funereal butterfly. In 2024, he received the Geronti Kikodze Literary Prize as the author of the best Georgian translation of a French-language work of the year.
